For the last
30 years or so, I have been lucky enough to spend my time working at
something that was originally my hobby. Having been a keen modeller for
over 37 years, I am now pleased to find myself working at it full time.
In my early working years, I was apprenticed to a master painter working in the automotive industry and it was here that I
learned the specialised skills of spray painting. These skills came
to my aid when I found myself out of work. Not wishing to be unemployed,
I felt that model making and design was possibly the way to go.
I now work with both cast and etched model
locomotives, coaches and wagons
in 4mm "00" "EM" & "P4" and 7mm "0 Gauge". I am very particular when selecting paints, and
use only authentic livery paints from Phoenix Precision Paints and transfers
from HMRS (ex-PC Models). I use a special preparation of hard
glaze satin varnish to complete the paintwork which gives it a finer
scale gloss finish which is more durable than that of the softer model varnishes. My attention to detail is very
exacting,
referring to many photos and line drawings in my personal collection to ensure a high quality product. I take a great pride in my work and my clients complete satisfaction is paramount to me. To date, I have not received ONE complaint, only compliments and appreciative comments.
My services extend to stripping down and rebuilding models, many of which come to me in a
poorly constructed or 'glued together' condition. When these models leave me
they are in pristine condition, and their owners cannot believe they are the same models
when they receive them. I also undertake full re-paints and re-numbering
My professional charges
are not cheap, but then, neither is the quality of my work. I enjoy what I do and am good at it. I never promise a delivery date which I know to be unattainable just to get the job in. I would rather be honest. The price I quote is the price you pay for that project. I do ask for a deposit, normally £100 on each
4mm locomotive kit project and £250 for each 7mm, £50 for any 4mm rolling stock
and £100 for each 7mm project being undertaken.
NO COMPLETE MODEL EVER LEAVES ME UNTIL I MYSELF AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH BOTH ITS APPEARANCE AND 'ON TRACK' PERFORMANCE. THAT IS MY GUARANTEE TO YOU, MY CLIENT
